CONFEDERATE IMAGE OF THE MONTH
Sgt.Joseph C. LeBleu
Company K (Confederate States Rangers)
10th Louisiana Infantry Regiment
Army of Northern Virginia.
He was the colorbearer of the regiment at the Battle of Malvern Hill, Va., on July 1, 1862. The flagpole was shot in two while the regiment was charging a battery of enemy artillery during the battle.
Sgt. LeBleu was a resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and after the war was elected to the
Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. He was a charter member of the Lake Charles camp of the United
Confederate Veterans. LeBleu also organized the first Lake Charles camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans in his police jury office.
