CONFEDERATE IMAGE OF THE MONTH
Brigadier General Johnson Kelly Duncan
He was in command of the forts around New Orleans
when the Federal fleet under Admiral D.G. Farragut attacked
in April 1862. Duncan was captured with the garrison of Fort Jackson.
After being exchanged, Duncan commanded an infantry brigade in the
Army of Tennessee and then served as the chief of staff for
General Braxton Bragg in the Army of Tennessee until is death on
December 18, 1862 in Knoxville, Tennessee of disease. He was buried
on the Carnton Plantation cemetery in Franklin, Tennessee.
