Col. Robert Tignal Jones, 12th Alabama Infantry
Jones was born Oct. 8, 1815 in Virginia. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., in 1837, 13th in class standing. He served as a second lieutenant in the 3rd Artillery of the U.S. Army. He was in the Seminole Indian War of 1837-38, and fought in the Action of Locha-Hatchee, June  24, 1838; and in the Cherokee Nation, 1838, while emigrating the Indians to the West. He was promoted to first lieutenant July 7, 1838 and resigned July 31, 1838. Jones moved to Perry County, Alabama where he became a planter.Jones was a captain in the Alabama Militia 1849, 50. He also served as president of the Cahawba, Marion, and Greensboro Railroad, Ala. from 1835-57. He was married to Lucy Maria Jones. During the War for Southern Independence, he became colonel of the made colonel of the 12th Alabama and was killed in action at the Battle of Seven Pines, May 31, 1862. LEE-JACKSON BANQUET 2019 UPDATE

LEE-JACKSON BANQUET 2019
           Our annual Lee-Jackson Banquet is going to be one of the best we’ve ever had, in honor of our beloved heroes, General Robert Edward Lee and Lieutenant General Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson. The banquet will begin at 6 p.m. Sat., Jan. 26, 2019, at Pat’s of Henderson Restaurant in Lake Charles, with a social with the banquet meal to follow at 7 p.m. Our speaker will be George Gremillion, 2nd Lt. Cmdr. of the Louisiana Division, SCV. His program will be on Boone's Battery, an outstanding Louisiana artillery battery that had a most interesting history, including the Siege of Port Hudson. Susan  Jones will provide live music, playing period pieces on the viola during the social hour.
     The menu will be the same as last year (see below). The cost of the banquet will be $35.00 a person, all inclusive; appetizer, entrée, dessert, and non -alcoholic beverage with meal. All taxes and gratuities are included in the cost. Any cocktails or other alcoholic drinks are separate and not included in the banquet cost. This is our camp’s opportunity to honor two of the greatest heroes of all American history, and show to the world Confederate Heritage is a heritage of honor and distinction.
     Please send your checks, made out to Capt. J.W. Bryan Camp 1390, SCV, and mail them to Luke Dartez, 908 Henning Road, Sulphur, La. 70665. Please try to have your checks in by Jan. 23, 2019.
