1st Lt. George Wilkins Kendall, Company K, 8th Alabama Cavalry (Hatch's). Born in 1846, he was living with his parents in Mobile in 1860. He enlisted in 1864, by which point the South was in dire need of manpower. This unit fought at Lafayette on 24 June 1864, Ten Islands on 14 August 1864 and at Mobile from 17 March to 12 April 1865, and finally surrendered at Gainesville, Alabama, on 4 May 1865.
